Completion of the Cycle Friendly Winchester study

The study will then be shared with the Government who would make a decision on which of 19 areas have been chosen to receive funding to deliver their Mini-Holland cycling proposals (which we expect is likely to be announced by around spring 2023).

The Government have suggested only a small number of these places will receive delivery funding. If Winchester is chosen, then further detailed engagement with local neighbourhoods will be carried out as proposals are developed.

Decision annouced by Government

Hampshire County Council and Winchester City Council would like to work with residents and businesses to improve neighbourhoods in Winchester, create safer streets for walking and cycling and understand views about locations where it is difficult to cross main roads, which main roads need segregated cycle lanes, roads that make good “quietway” routes and possible locations for introduction of Low Traffic Neighbourhoods.
